The National Fruit Show will celebrate its 90th year in November, and it will have a new leader to kick off its big event in Kent.

Catherine Paice, Director of Eden Publishing and agribusiness journalist, was named the Show’s newest president during the Marden Fruit Show Society’s annual meeting last week. She has been a longtime contributor and editor on issues that face agriculture and business, including work for Radio 4, Farmers Weekly, Estates Gazette and as Deputy Editor of Agra Europe.

Paice takes over for Teresa Wickham, the former Women’s Farming Union National chair who departed after serving for three years.

“I am delighted to accept the invitation to be the president of the Marden Fruit Show Society and I hope my experience and contacts will be invaluable to helping it to continue its work, especially in its 90th year,” Paice said. “There is some fantastic innovation taking place in the sector as well as interesting technological developments and we look forward to showcasing more about these later in the year at the National Fruit Show.”

This year’s show, again featuring the tagline “by growers for growers”, will take place at Kent Showground, Detling, from 1-2 November, with a heavy focus on soft fruit. There will be an innovation portion dedicated to new technology as well as The Hive area for start-ups.

More information will be released as the show gets closer.
