A family-run firm which has been supplying nuts and dried fruit to the UK retail market retailers for more than 80 years is finally launching its own brand identity.

Besana, which also supplies seeds and chocolate snacks around the world, is launching a branded range on AmazonFresh.

“Selling through AmazonFresh will give our new brand extensive product visibility, to do this as AmazonFresh is stating its intention to rapidly develop its online grocery selection is a truly exciting opportunity,” said Simon Melik, sales and marketing director of Besana Group.

Besana supplies large multiple retailers worldwide with own-label products. Its nuts, seeds and dried fruit are also used as high-quality ingredients by food manufacturers within Europe and the Far East.

Besana’s reputation has been built on provenance, service, quality and freshness.
“We source directly from growers and processors at origin, many of whom have been suppliers to Besana for over 50 years and are, like ourselves, still family owned and run,” added Melik.

The company was founded in 1921 by Emilio and Vincenzo Besana having identified the opportunity to process and market the abundance of hazelnuts and walnuts being grown in the area to the south of Naples in Italy.

Subsequent generations have carefully guided the company to its current position as an exporter and leader in the supply of both snacking and ingredient nuts, seeds, dried fruit and more recently, chocolate products.

“We have created the new Besana branded range to establish an attractive ‘go to’ snacking option synonymous with high quality, freshness and taste,” adds Melik.

“We take great pride in now launching the all new Besana brand in the UK and are sure that AmazonFresh customers will appreciate the fantastic taste and quality of our products.”

Besana, which also has an organic range available, is already developing new products to incorporate mixes with chocolate inclusions, natural flavours and spices.

In addition to this, it will provide targeted offers for special occasions such as Valentine’s Day, Ramadan and Chinese New Year. It also has plans to later launch some specific home-baking lines.

Besana has developed its new brand identity and packaging in partnership with Pink Sky Design and the range is now available on AmazonFresh.
