The business development manager is stepping down from his long-term role at the UK vegetable seeds specialists, while two new recruits join the team.
CN Seeds Ltd has announced the retirement of Charles Seddon, a well-known figure in the seeds industry having been instrumental in developing the company over the last 13 years as part of his 38-year career.
He’s helped bring many new products to market and worked on developing the export potential specialties like Babyleaf pak choi and kale.
After graduating from Bath University in horticulture, Seddon began his career in the seed industry with Australian brassica and lettuce breeding specialists Samuel Yates. He worked on a variety of crops and was key in bringing the first F1 hybrid cauliflowers to Europe.
He spent another decade managing Sakata UK’s ornamental division before joining CN Seeds in 2004.
“Charlie is a well known person in the seed industry having dedicated his working life to the trade and has seen some great changes in the sector over the years,” says CN Seeds’ commercial manager, Craig Thomas.
“Charlie will continue working on projects with CN Seeds and will also continue as chair of the British Herbs trade association.”
The company has recruited two new staff members to the team.
Natasha Lane joins the sales team as a trainee and recent Cambridge University plant biology graduate, Roshni Badgami, has been appointed assistant plant breeder. While working with CN Seeds, she will also carry out a part-time MSc in Plant Genetics and Crop Improvement at the University of East Anglia.
