Supermarket Aldi brought back its popular ‘Kevin the Carrot’ advertisements the past week, with a spot on ITV.

The 70-second film proceeded Aldi’s Christmas teaser, which aired two weeks ago. In the current spot, Kevin finds himself in hot water with an angry band of Brussels sprouts. New character Russell Sprout and his gang of ‘Leafy Blinders’ (named after the BBC show’s street gang The Peaky Blinder) boil with rage about Kevin and his family of carrots stealing the show as the star Christmas vegetable.

Sprouts surround Kevin to teach him a lesson, wanting to put a stop to the event he is planning. Kevin escapes with the help of Tiny Tom and delivers  his ‘Christmas Spectacular’ at the circus. Wife Katie the Carrot, who was introduced to audiences in 2017, makes a reappearance, along with a cast of new characters.

Kevin sings a rendition of Robbie Williams’ “Let Me Entertain You.”

“We’re all thrilled to see Kevin back on our screens again, getting up to his usual tricks,” Sean McGinty, Marketing Director at Aldi UK, said. “Kevin’s popularity grows every year. Kevin’s Big Top is the perfect environment to showcase the amazing quality of the Aldi Christmas range of food and drink this year,”

Kevin first appeared in Aldi’s Christmas campaign in 2016. The couple’s children – Jasper, Chantenay and Baby Carrot – were introduced in 2018. As well as appearing in the adverts, Kevin merchandise has become popular, with Kevin The Carrot toys causing high excitement when they were released in Aldi stores.
