Bold and contemporary emoji-style designs have been incorporated into the rebranding of the UK’s largest wholesale market which is also relaunching its website.
The rebrand and website makeover (www.newcoventgardenmarket.com) is part of the market’s strategy to “breathe new life into a beloved London institution”.
It features emoji-stylised graphics of flowers, fruits and vegetables.
The market’s refreshed look is indicative of other physical and structural work going on at the Nine Elms base to ensure traders and customers have the latest technology and most up to date designed spaces.
A new fresh produce facility is to be launched which will also feature New Covent Garden’s new branding and signage.
“The website has been relaunched with a cleaner look and mechanics that should provide an easier customer experience, whether accessed by mobile, tablet or desktop,” says a spokesperson for the market.
“The new site features beautiful visuals of flowers, fruit and fresh produce, as well as profiling its traders and hosting a blog providing monthly seasonal updates, in-depth product profiles and industry insights.”
The market supplies London restaurants including Le Gavroche, The Dorchester, Four Seasons and The Wolseley, and as well as market stall holders, schools, hospitals, the Houses of Parliament, London Zoo and a whole host of other customers from the wholesale sector.
Located in Battersea in South West London, the market sees tonnes of seasonal produce pass through the site each night. It’s also known as London’s original fresh food market, dating back to Medieval times when it first operated on its original site where Covent Garden now stands in central London.
